North Lawrence, NY – LF Bioenergy (“LF”), a renewable energy developer focused on the production of RNG, has successfully begun operating its first facility, located at Stauffer Farms in upstate New York.
This facility turns dairy cow manure from Stauffer Farms’ cows into clean RNG and pipes it into Liberty Utilities’ network of natural gas pipelines in the Northeast. Once at capacity, the facility will generate approximately 130,000 MMBtu of RNG annually. According to EPA estimates, the benefit in environmental terms would be equivalent to reducing more than 18 million miles of emissions annually from an average gasoline vehicle.
“LF’s Farmers First culture is built on trust, transparency, and a technical team with exceptional expertise in energy and dairy,” said Brent Lilienthal, President and CEO. “The Stauffer Farms project puts these principles into action with a world-class facility design that is customized for this farm’s operations and the surrounding community.”
A multigenerational, family owned and operated farm, Stauffer Farms is managed by Sandy Stauffer and his sons, Aaron and Ben Stauffer. “Stauffer Farms continually seeks ways to enhance the financial returns from our dairy while serving our animals, our employees and our community with responsible stewardship of the environment and to increase the well-being of us all,” said Sandy Stauffer, partner. “LF Bioenergy enables us to improve our contribution to everyone we touch by making renewable energy from our manure through the capture of methane that previously escaped into the atmosphere. LF has done a fantastic job pulling together the financial resources, the engineering expertise, and the knowledge of the energy business to bring this exciting project to completion.”
LF partnered with Martin Energy Group Services, to build the facility. For a behind-the-scenes look at construction: LF Bioenergy RNG Facility Construction.
